Don’t Harden Your Neck<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hey, little buddies!<\/p>\n

Proverbs 29:1 says, \u201cA man who hardens his<\/em> neck after much reproof will suddenly be broken beyond remedy.\u201d\u00a0 A hard neck is talking about a\u00a0 horse that doesn\u2019t want to obey the rider.\u00a0 When the rider pulls on the reins to slow the horse down or turn him in another direction, the horse makes his neck stiff so the rider can\u2019t control him and he can go on doing what he wants.<\/p>\n

Well, this verse says that people can be like stubborn horses.\u00a0 When my dad was a young man, he was working with a group of people on a farm, picking tomatoes.\u00a0 There was a boy there who kept playing down at the edge of the field where there was a creek.\u00a0 There were some deep holes in that creek and it was dangerous to play along there if you weren\u2019t a good swimmer.<\/p>\n

Several times that day, different workers would call to the boy and tell him to get away from the creek.\u00a0 But he \u201cstiffened his neck\u201d and went on doing what he wanted to do.\u00a0 Sometime that afternoon somebody noticed the boy was missing.\u00a0 Quickly several people rushed down to the creek.\u00a0 There was that disobedient boy, in the water over his head.\u00a0 They pulled him out,\u00a0 but he had drowned.\u00a0 My father gave him artificial respiration to save his life, but it was too late.<\/p>\n

This story is sad but it is true.\u00a0 Don\u2019t be like that boy, hardening your neck when your parents or other wise people are trying to tell you the wise thing to do.\u00a0 Humility is a great character trait, so be humble and take good advice.\u00a0 Don\u2019t be so set on having your own way that you suddenly find out you\u2019re in trouble you can\u2019t get out of.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
